WEEKLY MEETINGS
Alpha Epsilon Delta hosts a diverse range of accomplished healthcare professionals to share their wisdom and experiences at weekly meetings every Tuesday. Some of the speakers we welcomed last year include: Carol Teener, the Admissions Director of the University of Michigan Medical School; Dr. David Brown, an MD who also leads the Office for Health Equity and Inclusion at Michigan Medicine; and Kara Milliron, a professor and genetic counselor at the University of Michigan.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
AED’s professional development efforts are dedicated to empowering all AED members to enhance their professional careers. We conduct monthly workshops to discuss student extracurriculars, professional exams, burnout, imposter syndrome, and many more. Professionalism is a major priority for many students, and AED ensures that all members have a strong foundation for their future careers.
SHADOWING
Alpha Epsilon Delta provides opportunities to learn about different healthcare professions by connecting students directly with contacts that they can shadow. Shadowing is an excellent way for students to learn more about different areas of healthcare and can be a valuable tool in deciding the best path forward.
ENRICHMENT
AED offers resume building experiences, headshots, and present opportunities (such as jobs, research labs, volunteer opportunities, and more) for members of all pre-health paths. AED also attends the Health and Medical School Expo annually, an event organized by the University Career Center, where members can network with admissions faculty from over 60 different medical, dental, pharmacy, PA, PT, OT, etc. schools.
