Under the stars

AED hosts an annual Under the Stars dance in collaboration with Special Olympics and Best Buddies. This service event features a vibrant dance party and a variety of games and activities designed to foster bonding and an inclusive and accepting environment. Members of all of these organizations enjoy a night filled with laughter, music, and meaningful connections, embodying the community and support that AED deeply values.

Arb eco work day

AED volunteers at a variety of organizations dedicated to environmental efforts, but one of our main events is the Arb Eco Work Day. During this event, volunteers help remove litter and clean up the arb to help maintain its beauty. This involvement not only contributes to a cleaner and healthier planet but also reinforces AED's dedication to sustainability and community service. Through these efforts, AED members work together to make a positive and lasting impact on the environment.

Retirement homes

AED also volunteers at various retirement homes in the Ann Arbor area, including Story Point and Orchard Hill. During these visits, AED volunteers engage with residents through a range of activities such as games, storytelling, and art projects, fostering meaningful connections and brightening their days. This initiative reflects AED's commitment to service to individuals of all ages and underscores the importance of intergenerational bonds, enriching the lives of both the residents and the volunteers.

ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK

AED also plans an annual alternative spring break that is volunteering-focused in different locations each year. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore a new city, help make a positive impact on underserved communities, and form stronger connections with other AED members. In 2023, the ASB group went to Hungry Mother National Park, Virginia where they helped clean up trails, spend time exploring the park, and had a great time bonding with fellow members!
