AED is dedicated to fundraising for the community. The Michigan Epsilon chapter of Alpha Epsilon Delta partners with three primary Philanthropy organizations: Alzheimer’s Association, Relay for Life, and Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan. We encourage you to read more about each of these organizations below, as well as our different means of supporting these causes and fundraising.
ALZHEIMER’S ASSOICATION
The Alzheimer’s Association is a nationally recognized organization that helps both families with members suffering from Alzheimer’s and those affected by the disease themselves. The organization's support comes in many forms, ranging from educating families about the disease to aiding in the search for a cure. The biggest event of the year for the Alzheimer’s Association is the Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, held at over 300 locations throughout the country. Participants in the walk can join individually or as part of a team, raising both money and awareness about Alzheimer’s and the Alzheimer’s Association. AED has a team for the walk, and we hold several fundraisers for the Alzheimer’s Association, as well as partner with them to organize events like our annual 5K. This year, we are seeking to expand our participation with the Alzheimer’s Association by including not only our AED community but also other students, local businesses, and families.
RELAY FOR LIFE
In partnership with the philanthropic organization Relay for Life, AED contributes to our surrounding community by fundraising for cancer research, treatment, and transportation services for patients. Getting involved with Relay for Life through AED is a fantastic way to volunteer and support the cancer community and develop leadership skills, while continuing to create an incredible network of friends of members, pledges, and associates.
DANCE MARATHON
Dance Marathon at the University of Michigan (DMUM) is an organization that focuses its efforts on the pediatric rehabilitation services at Motts Children’s hospital. We, in AED, have had a long-standing tradition of having our own DMUM team consisting entirely of current members. Through this team members are able to volunteer and fundraise to help the local children recover while also having fun meeting some of the kids!
